Artist Statement: For this project, I really wanted to work with something new and interesting that I may not have encountered before in this course. I finally settled on traditional animation techniques along with stop motion animation to give the illusion of animation coming to life. While my level of skill with these techniques isn’t necessarily stellar, I feel that the final product although simple is pretty much what I wanted it to be, which was a simple, fun, short animation created by hand.

Big Screen Project
Artist Statement: Because this project would be being displayed on the east coast, I decided to do something that showcased the place where I live and work. Because Reno and the surrounding areas, including Lake Tahoe, Mt. Rose, Incline Village, and UNR are so scenic and interesting, I decided to incorporate a slide show of some of my favorite sights, and overlay some thoughts about the places. The hand signs are the sign language spellings of some adjectives that myself and other Reno natives feel describe the city and it's surroundings.

Project #7: Video Tryptic
Artists Statement: For this project, I wanted to create a sort of happy-go-lucky surrounding. I was mainly considering the gallery representation of this project to guide the idea to create a video collage of fun images of balloons and various fun images, that the viewer would be completely surrounded with, creating a feeling of fun and being care free.

Project #6: Random sound/ Video mashup
Artist statement:
Since the sounds used were supposed to serve as an audio self portrait, it seems fitting that the videos should do the same. I decided to create this work to serve as a sort of "day in the life" piece, just going through the general motions of a typical day for me.
Since the random sound file used the same clips of sound, I found it to make sense to also use the same video clips, and edit them using a random chance system of editing every time I deviated from homework to check a social network, and ordering the video clips by making a playlist in iTunes with the same amount of songs as videos, then shuffling them.

Project # 5 Controlled and Random event inspired audio mix
Controlled sound:
Random event sound:
Artists statement: The controlled portion of this project was just the purposeful editing of clips that I liked from the 5 track portrait. The random portion was done through a random chance system of using social network distractions again, but by deciding that going to facebook would result in pasting a new clip into the track, and going to twitter would result in editing a clip at random.

Project #4: 5-track self portrait
Artists statement: This project was a combination of all of the audio sounds that we have been creating and recording thus far. There are five separate tracks; The self portrait tape loop, a home made vibraphone, the hand made instrument, a spoken word self portrait, and a home made tape loop, which I made from an old Ricky Nelson tape all played at the same time.
Project # 3: Spoken word self portrait
Artists statement: For this project I decided that since I spent a good amount of my time communicating on social networks, I would use my twitter to define the content of my spoken word portrait. I decided to use a tweetcloud, which shows you which words you use most frequently on twitter. I realized that most of my most used words were extremes of one another, such as love, and hate, so I clicked on both love and hate, and chose various tweets containing them, composing a list of sorts. Most of the items on the list contradicted each other, so I decided to set them up in a parallel fashion. What resulted was a spoken list of contrasting likes and dislikes, which I feel defines my fickle nature quite well.
